You have not been charged the full purchase amount.
- At the time of purchase, only the first interest-free instalment is charged to your credit card. - The remaining balance of the purchase is authorised (reserved) on your card. A reserve is a temporary hold against your available credit - it is not a charge and is completely interest-free. It simply helps to make sure you have credit available to meet your instalment repayments. - Your instalment and the reserve may show as two separate amounts on your credit card statement, which is why it can look like you have been charged the full amount. - The remaining instalments are charged on the same day each month until your purchase is fully paid.
